Dozens of popular Linux distributions are available today. Some are generalized distributions that you can use as a desktop, server, or workstation system; others are specialized for business or computer enthusiasts. One intention of this book is to help you choose which one (or ones) will suit you best. Using the DVD that comes with this book, you can boot directly to KNOPPIX (or several other live CDs to try out Linux) or run an installer (to install Fedora, Ubuntu, Gentoo, or Slackware on your computer s hard disk). Because the Fedora distribution included with the book is the complete distribution, you can install a full range of desktop interfaces and applications, programming tools, and server features. So after you ve tried out KNOPPIX and are ready to install Linux on your hard disk, I recommend you try Fedora. Using the CD that comes with this book, you can boot directly to Damn Small Linux (or several other smaller bootable Linux distros), Debian, or Gentoo (to do a network install of those distributions to your hard disk). Debian and Damn Small Linux are two distributions that can be set up to work well on computers that are older and less powerful, or have a CD drive but no DVD drive. This book also provides descriptions for setting up Debian as a mail and Web server (see s 24 and 25).

Relational databases are the most common DBMS. A main characteristic of a relational database is the absolute separation between physical and logical data. Data is accessed through the associated logical model to avoid supplying physical storage locations and to reduce the limitations imposed by using physical information. Relational databases allow the definition of relations and integrity rules between data sets. E.F. Codd developed this model at the IBM San Jose Research Lab in the 1970s. A language to handle, define, and control data was also developed at the IBM lab: SQL. SQL stands for Structured Query Language. SQL is a query language that interacts with a DBMS. It allows data access without supplying physical access plans, data retrieval as sets of records, and the performing of complex computations on the data.

The Procmail e-mail-filtering tool, installed by default with Fedora, RHEL, and many other Linux systems, is tightly integrated with the sendmail e-mail daemon; thus, it can be used to selectively block or filter out specific types of e-mail. The following options help define how logging is done on your Samba server: n Log level Sets the debug level used when logging Samba activity. Raise the level from the default (0) to log more Samba activity. n Log file Defines the location of the Samba smb log file. By default, Samba log files are contained in /var/log/samba (with file names log.nmbd, log.smbd, and smb.log). In this option, the %m is replaced by smb to set the smb log file as /var/log/samba/smb.log. n Max log size Sets the maximum amount of space, in kilobytes, that the log files can consume. By default, the value is set to 0 (no limit).

12.4.3.1 Lipoprotein Lipase (LpL). This glycoprotein is the main enzyme that hydrolyzes TAG in the blood. LpL is synthesized mainly in adipocytes, cardiac muscle, and lactating mammary glands. The enzyme is transported to the endothelial lining of capillaries, where it attaches to endothelial cells through noncovalent bonds to heparan sulfate proteoglycan. LpL catalyzes the hydrolysis of ester bonds in the
